Kindergarten

Kindergarten

The Kindergarten program is for children who are 5 by December 1, 2016. The Kindergarten curriculum provides the foundation for the grades through a rich experience in movement and language. Circle time, play and activities are selected to stimulate and support the development that is the foundation for the cognitive work to come in the grades. The stories, circles, activities and creative play of our Preschool become more sophisticated and interactive. Because young children are so deeply connected to and imitative of their environment, special care is given to create a play environment that is beautiful, unhurried, and secure. We observe a daily, weekly, and seasonal rhythm in our classrooms. Our intent is to provide a comfortable setting that encourages the unfolding of the imagination through a rich exposure to language, culture, and the natural world. Our days are filled with a variety of stimulating activities including:
  • creative play
  • practical activities
  • storytelling
  • puppetry
  • nature walks
  • drawing
  • beeswax modeling
  • painting
  • singing
  • movement
  • poetry
  • rich development of English & Mandarin

Elementary Grades 1-5

Elementary School is the beginning of formal schooling marked by children's new interest in learning, inspired by the awakening abilities of memory and thinking. Tzu Chi Great Love Elementary meets the student's innate curiosity and desire to grow with a rich multisensory experience. Students sculpt, draw, move, listen, imagine and sound out-all ways to engage different learning styles-to stimulate the young mind so that the students become motivated eager learners. Students establish good habits of classroom life and work that will form the basis for all subsequent learning at school. The students and English & Mandarin Teachers build the foundation for an ever-deepening relationship while forming a socially cohesive group during this special year of "beginnings."
